FAQ

When should I take a prenatal class?

That is completely up to you, although we recommend taking it sometime after 20 weeks and before 36 weeks. This is so the information remains fresh in your mind and you have given yourself time to think of questions and preferences. We recommend scheduling your class before 36 weeks if your provider has indicated that you are at risk for preterm labour.

Should I bring someone?  Can I take your class alone?

The $300 class fee includes the birthing person and a support person. You can absolutely come alone if you are single or your partner is unable to attend, but it may be nice to have someone come and support you (friend, sister, mother, etc.). The person who you bring will preferably be someone who is with you during labour and/or helping you postpartum.  You may also book the class for yourself and for two support people to join you if you wish.  You will find this option on the booking page.

What is your cancellation policy?

We will provide you with a refund minus a $50 administration fee up until 2 weeks prior to your class start.  If you wish, your class can be transferred to someone else for the same date of the original booking.  Please contact us to let us know someone else will be taking the class in your place so that we can have them fill out a registration form.

Where are your classes located?

The locations will vary depending on site availability and class sizes. We will be holding classes at various venues in Vancouver and Burnaby. Specific locations will be indicated with the class dates on our registration page. We are not formally affiliated with any of the institutions or venues that we hold our classes at.

Do you offer private classes?

We do! If you are interested, we will come to your home or present to you over Zoom. This will be a 4-5 hour session for $600+GST for your and your support person. Contact us via email to schedule a date.

If I am planning a home birth with a midwife, should I still take your class?

YES! We will be covering topics specific to hospital birth but themes are absolutely applicable to a home birth as well (eg. what to expect in labour, birth positions, baby care etc).

Does this class cover baby CPR?

This class does NOT include infant CPR. As registered nurses, we are able to administer infant CPR but a special certificate is needed to be able to teach that type of class (which hopefully will be a future project for us!).
